Dentures Fit Your Life
If you are considering dentures, great advances in dental technology are creating beautiful, natural-looking smiles; modern dentures are personalized, comfortable, and durable. Whether you have lost a few or all of your natural teeth, high-quality, well-fitting dentures replace your missing teeth, benefiting your health and helping you to look and feel better about yourself. Desired results include a more youthful appearance, clear speech, and being able to chew food properly, improving nutrition and digestion. The best part is that because dentures can look as natural as the smile you were born with, no one has to know you are wearing them!
Different Types of Dentures
A denture is removable prosthetic teeth and gums designed to replace missing teeth. A full denture is used to replace all the teeth in either the upper or lower jaw. A conventional full denture is made after the natural teeth have been removed and the gum tissue has healed. An immediate full denture is made in advance and is placed in the mouth as soon as the natural teeth are removed; the wearer does not have to be without teeth during the healing period. A partial denture replaces one or more teeth in either the upper or lower jaw, preserving the remaining natural teeth. Partial dentures attach to the remaining natural teeth, usually by metal framework that helps to hold the denture in place. An overdenture fits over a small number of prepared natural teeth or implants in the lower jaw. With the added support from the prepared teeth and/or implants, the overdenture has increased retention, stability and comfort.
