Dental braces come in various types and the type that’s recommended is based entirely on the problem in question. How much are braces? Well it depends on how severe the problem is, as well as the type of braces. Metal braces for example are the cheapest and most common variety.
Metal braces are usually either stainless steel or some alloy combination and usually average about $5,000 for a set. Ceramic braces can be color-matched to a wearer’s teeth to blend in better. As they’re less intrusive cosmetically, ceramics are popular but also expensive, sometimes as much as $8,000. Another option to consider are braces that are all but invisible.

Invisible Braces and Your Orthodontist

Invisible braces can be classified into two categories: lingual braces and Invisalign.
Lingual braces are usually fairly expensive averaging between $5,000 and $9,000. Invisalign are plastic braces ranges around $4,500 to $5,000 for most people. They are braces that are mounted towards the tongue, and out of sight as a rule.
The main drawback to Invisalign is that it is not a quick fix and may take longer for treatment to be complete. Also. there are additional costs to braces whatever type you’re selecting, including exam fees and initial consultations, and often adjustments as well.
A good thing to also note about the cost of orthodontics is that most dental plans cover a percentage of the cost.
Before you get braces, we recommend you check your coverage closely. That way it is merely a matter of consulting an orthodontist to see what braces work best for you.
